The French Rectors Conference (CPU) gathers executives of the 74 French universities, 3 technological universities, 3 polytechnic national institutes, 4 écoles normales supérieures, several « grands établissements » and all of the associations of universities and higher education institutions (COMUEs). CPU gathers 129 members on the national territory and represents, via its links with institutions and schools, the main force in terms of higher education, research and innovation in France.

CPU is, since more than 40 years, a major contributor to all the questions related to university with national authorities, networks and stakeholders in higher education and research, social and economic stakeholders, as well as local, national, european and international authorities. At the European level, CPU is an active member of the European University Association (EUA). It also has a growing role towards society in order to give a better view on the possible opportunities and successes, a well as the contributions of high level research, in all fields of knowledge.

CPU is a non-profit association, employing 20 people on 2 sites, in Paris and Brussels.

In Brussels, CPU is part of the CLORA (Club of Associated Research Organisations), which mission is to support and encourage the participation of French research organisations to European programmes. It gathers 34 members from the main French research organisations and universities.

Euraxess is an initiative of the European Commission which aims at supporting researchers mobility, through 4 main pillars (Services, Rights, Links, Jobs). The Euraxess services network (200 service centres) is available in 40 countries. CPU is the coordinator of the French network (34 centres) and takes part in the Euraxess TOP 3 project (financed through H2020 programme).

The representative will carry his/her tasks on behalf of the CPU office in Brussels, under the authority of the permanent representative and the coordination of the CPU office director in Brussels. His/her main functions will be :

In the frame of CPU and CLORA activities :

  • Contribute to the preparation of the monthly « comité Europe »
  • Contribute to the organisation of a « tour de France » of the French universities
  • Support universities in their European positioning, in connection with EUA
  • Organise the annual seminar of the CPU in Brussels
  • Contribute to the activities and events of the CLORA

In the frame of Euraxess activities :

  • Coordinate the French network of Euraxess mobility centres, in connection with European
  • partners, Ministries (Higher education and research, Interior, Foreign Affairs) and the European
  • commission (DG research)
  • Contribute to the preparation and organisation of the board meetings, general assemblies and
  • seminars, and ensure the writing of the minutes, notes and reports ;
  • Contribute to the European project Euraxess TOP3 (task devoted to the CPU and financial
  • reportings) ;

To do so, the candidate should have :

  • Good written and oral communication skills in French
  • A first experience in setting-up European projects (budgetary aspects, follow-up) will be
  • welcome ;
  • A good level in English (a second language would be an asset) ;
  • A good knowledge of the European environment ;
  • An ability to synthesize and work as a team / network is required.
